XML
XML is a data format used for exchanging structured data over networks. It is hardware and software independent. XML documents are composed of a prolog and a body. The prolog contains general information about the document such as the XML version, the character encoding and the rules defining the document elements. The body of an XML document contains the data and the markup which encodes a description of the document’s logical structure.
